Our Partners

A Sustainable Land Management Cooperative

At V&V, our partners are more than recommended service providers and trades people. They are friends who have worked with us repeatedly on projects as diverse as edible landscapes and road building, dry stack masonry and timber slash cleanups. They have consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, professionalism and honesty, as well as creative thinking when things didn’t go exactly as planned. Many of our partners have worked with us on our own farm over the years. We are grateful for their services and enduring spirits. On one occasion, in the process of verifying the reputation of a possible contractor, we were told that he was not only the best possible choice for the job, he was the best man they knew. Many successful jobs later we know why he was given so high a compliment. We respect and admire the skills of our partners. We understand, first hand, how difficult it is for landowners, whether native or new to an area, to consistently connect with service providers of superior quality. We have repeatedly found ourselves repairing shoddy workmanship and ecologically unsound practices. We have been called to fix problems resulting purely from a lack of communication between skilled contractors. As we have stated, the first principle of sustainability is doing the job right the first time. Hiring contractors and trades-people that are familiar with and respect each other’s work greatly increases both vertical and horizontal integration on jobsites. In this fashion there is more oversight and less time and money wasted between project phases. Landowners can be assured that their goals are being efficiently and cost effectively met in an ecologically sound fashion. These considerations were the impetus behind the creation of a sustainable land management partnership. For most of us, what we do with our land constitutes the greatest impact we will have on the earth. We hope this model greatly improves the quality and sustainability of land management in the Southeast. More information coming soon...
